Support SyriaUntold

Because Syria is bigger than a single story.

From the beginning, SyriaUntold has existed to tell what is overlooked: what falls outside the news cycle, what is pushed to the margins, and what risks being erased from memory.

We are an independent media platform writing about Syria in all its plurality and complexity: politics and society, memory and culture, art and everyday life, justice and gender, exile and belonging, and the transformations reshaping what it means to be Syrian and the lives of Syrians in the interior and across the diaspora.

We look for stories that help us understand Syria rather than reduce it. We document testimonies, revisit archives, and share our space with voices and experiences that do not always find a place in the media. We clarify the context, because what happens cannot be understood without the histories of place, relations of power, and the social and political differences that shape it.

Your support helps us:

Preserve what might otherwise be erased
Stories, testimonies, images, and memories are not footnotes to Syrian history. Documenting, preserving, and bringing them back into public conversation is a central part of our work.

Make space for Syria in its plurality
There is no single Syrian experience. We publish different voices and experiences, including those that are marginalised or contradictory, and engage with people and places to be seen and heard on their own terms.

Practice independent, critical journalism
Our editorial independence allows us to hold political, religious, and social authorities to account, challenge ready-made narratives and simplifications, and remain committed to accuracy, dignity, and context.

Give stories the time they deserve
Slow and careful journalism takes time. Research, editing, fact-checking, design, and sustained editorial work sit behind every piece we publish. Your support helps us continue producing journalism that does not measure a story’s value by how quickly it can be published.

SyriaUntold is your space to take part in documenting the present, to think through the Syria taking shape today, and to ask which voices will remain part of its memory tomorrow.

With your support, we can keep this space independent and free and open for all who want to continue telling what remains untold.
